Connect your coding agent
By the end your agent hands you a link when it finishes a feature. You open it, walk the pages in your real app, and click anything that is wrong. The agent reads what you wrote and fixes it. For the overview and a short Q&A, see Pinafly for coding agents. To see what a good review looks like, read How to write a UAT.
How it works
Your agent connects to Pinafly with one address and you approve it in the browser. There is no key to copy. Once connected it can:
- write a draft review: the pages of your running app to check, each with a guide
- read the comments you and your team leave on those pages
- report that it fixed a comment, or that it will not change something, and why
It cannot send the review to anyone, mark a comment resolved, or read what a reviewer outside your team wrote. You decide when a comment is done.
Steps
-
In Claude Code, run:
claude mcp add --transport http pinafly https://pinafly.com/mcp -
In Claude Code, type
/mcp, choose pinafly, then Authenticate. Your browser opens. Sign in to Pinafly, check the workspace it names, and press Allow. Claude Code says it is connected. -
Tell the agent what to check and where your app runs (this is the same in every agent), for example: "When you finish this, hand me a Pinafly UAT. My app runs at https://staging.acme.com."
Other agents
Every agent uses the same address, https://pinafly.com/mcp, and the same browser sign-in. We have tested Claude Code end to end. The others below use standard MCP over HTTP, but if one asks you for a client ID or cannot open the sign-in, use a token (see the end of this page).
| Agent | Add it | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Codex | codex mcp add pinafly --url https://pinafly.com/mcp |
codex mcp login pinafly |
| Cursor | In .cursor/mcp.json (or ~/.cursor/mcp.json) add {"mcpServers": {"pinafly": {"url": "https://pinafly.com/mcp"}}} |
Open Cursor's MCP settings and connect pinafly |
| Gemini CLI | gemini mcp add --transport http pinafly https://pinafly.com/mcp |
In Gemini CLI type /mcp auth |
| GitHub Copilot in VS Code | In .vscode/mcp.json add {"servers": {"pinafly": {"type": "http", "url": "https://pinafly.com/mcp"}}} |
Start the server from the file, then sign in when VS Code asks |
Any other agent that speaks MCP over HTTP: add a server with the address above.
The first time, for each app
The agent tells you about each of these when it hits it:
- Your app's address is not allowed yet. The agent gives you a link to your Live review page with the address filled in. Press Allow, then tell the agent to carry on.
- Pinafly is not on your app yet. The agent adds one script tag to your app's layout. Nobody sees anything until they open a page from Pinafly. Deploy or reload your app so the tag is live.
What you will see
The agent gives you a link to the review. Each page shows its guide and an Open button. Open signs you in on your app as yourself. Turn on Comment in Pinafly's corner of the page, click what is wrong and say why. Then tell the agent: "Fix the Pinafly feedback."
When it is ready for other people, choose Edit and send on the review to change the guides and invite reviewers.
If something is off
- Authenticate opened a page that says the link expired. Close it and choose Authenticate again. Each sign-in link works once.
- After Allow, the browser says localhost can't be reached. The sign-in expired: your agent stopped waiting before you allowed it. Nothing failed. Choose Authenticate again and allow it straight away. If your agent asks for the address instead, paste the whole URL from the address bar.
- The agent says the address is not allowed. Open the link it gave you and press Allow.
- You opened a page and there is no Pinafly in the corner. The script tag is not on that page yet, or the app has not been deployed since it was added.
- You changed a guide and the agent posted again. Your version is kept. The agent is told which page you edited.
Without the browser sign-in
For CI, or an agent that cannot open a browser, make a token on the Live review page under Agent access and add it as a header:
claude mcp add --transport http pinafly https://pinafly.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer your-token"
Pinafly shows a token once and keeps only a fingerprint. Revoke it on the same page.
